2-15. STOPPING LIGHT LOCOMOTIVE
a.
Normal stop.
(1)
Reduce throttle (1) until load meter (2)
indicates that the current has dropped.
(2)
Move throttle (1) to IDLE, and apply
independent brake valve (3) by moving
the handle to the right, away from the
RELEASE position. The amount of
application depends on the distance the
handle
is
advanced
toward
FULL
APPLICATION position.
b.
Emergency Stop. Move throttle (1) to IDLE and
independent brake valve (3) to the FULL
APPLICATION position.
2-16. CHANGE DIRECTION WITH LIGHT LOCOMOTIVE
a.
Stop the locomotive (para 2-15).
WARNING
Do not move reverser handle
while the locomotive is in motion.
Do not drift in one direction with
the reverser handle set in the
opposite direction. Serious injury
to personnel and damage to the
electrical equipment may result if
this rule is disregarded.
b.
Move reverser (1) to opposite direction.
c.
Release the brake and advance throttle (2) in
the normal manner.
